Crafting the Wild: Cottonwood Buds

Let’s kick off the new year with a new event series where we gather for community, magic, medicine, and learning.

First Saturday of every month we’ll gather in nature and learn about one plant: how to identify it, where it grows, how to harvest with honorable practices, how the plant is used for medicine, magic, food, etc., and how to make the medicine. Then we'll actually make medicine right there, all together. Feel free to research the plant before we gather, and share what you learned.

We’ll begin with cottonwood buds, which are best harvested in the cold of winter before their sap runs sticky in the spring.

Each person should bring a gathering basket/bag, and at least 4 oz of vodka/neutral spirits (40+% clear alcohol). We’ll be harvesting plant material and making a communal tincture, with ritual, which will steep for the month and be shared with everyone at the following gathering.

Please don’t hesitate to ask questions: thevillageapothecary@gmail.com

Making medicine is magical, doing it together in community takes it to a higher plane. So mote it be!

I am offering my medicine-making knowledge for free to this group, but donations are warmly accepted.
